Mylin is a Metallurgical Engineer with SHEQR experience.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Material Science and Physics, a National Higher Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering and completed a Management Development Programme at Wits Business School.
He spent 18 years of his metallurgical engineering career in the Ferrous Division at Anglo American before moving to Highveld Steel where he worked intermediately between the steelworks and marketing division. He then moved to Whyalla, Australia, where he completed a one year contract in the Long Products division at BHP Steel.
Upon his return to South Africa, Mylin started his own steel fabrication and trading business, Steel for Fencing, which operated for four years. During this time he commissioned an integrated cold rolling mill in Emalahleni.
He recently joined the dynamic Amava Group where he heads up the Coal Division. Mylin initiated and spearheaded Amava’s entry in the coal industry when he obtained full contractor compliance into Xstrata Coal SA.
Mylin’s goal is to grow Amava’s coal division with the intention that Amava become a major player in coal beneficiation.
He wants for the Amava Group to become a mining house of stature and respect.
